Who wouldn’t want Ramirez . But it appears he wants a three YEAR deal in the 70 + Million range . That’s TOO MUCH .
as for opinions
I would have signed D. Cabrera
but we’ll see what happens .
Imagine this lineup:
1)SS-Reyes
2)CF-Beltran
3)3B-Wright
4)LF-Ramirez
5)1B-Delgado
6)RF-Church(If healthy)
7)C-Schneider or Castro
8)2B-Castillo(If his knees recover)
9)Pitcher
Wilpon, go in your pocket, remove the spider webs from your wallet and sign Manny!
im all for manny, and i really hope for him to be in a mets uniform this year. a player of that calaber should not be overlooked and i think that the wilpons are making a mistake on not being interested…hes a clutch player, and the mets need a player like that, just like you said. The red sox in 2007, I dont think would have had their success in the playoffs if it wasnt for manny heating up in september like he did
As a red sox fan, Manny was never a cancer from my viewpoint. His closest clubhouse friends never followed his lead, those being pedro, tavarez, ortiz. I think he is a perfect fit for the mets because of the latin american influence on the team that he needs. He has his moments but there is no player in baseball that is more fun to watch. I know countless people that would just watch manny abats and channel surf until his next abat. Baseball is boring but Manny isnt.
Quick summary of the topics:
1) Joe Torre spent most of his Yankee managing career taking dugout naps . With the Dodgers, he can now close his eyes behind dark sunglasses. Even Dodger fans notice his dugout naps.
2) The Mets have no feared power hitter (Delgado? nope) and need Manny Ramirez for power. The Mets pitching staff is not adequate enough to get away with a “defense/pitching” style of play. Manny may have an attitude but the Mets survived with bigger head cases than Manny.
we do need a good hitting outfielder. if you are forgetting mets offense struggles when they are behind 1 or 2 runs and the bullpid blew 29 games last year.
yeah, but if we take those bats and put them on the bench, than that just adds to our long list of outfielders. Plus, i think we can rely on Delgado. There’s nothing wrong with him and i doubt he’ll just fall of the map. even if he does, like he did in 07, we still have a good offense. if you think about it, the mets were playing like they were in 06 until september when the bullpen faultered.
we need more bench on the infield. We are OVERFLOWING with random mediocre outfielders and getting manny would only complicate the situation. The truth is, the mets don’t need a big bat. last year, the bullpen blew, i think, 17 games. our offense has been great in getting the lead, but the bullpen has blown all games. we fixed the pen now, so we should be good to go.
I think it’s great that the Mets stopped going after Manny. First of all, we signed Tatis to a 1 year contract at the beginning of the offseason, for the sole purpose of having him platoon left field with Daniel Murphy. If we got many, we’d be moving young talent and an expensive contract (in Tatis) to the overly crowded bench. Think about it. We’ve got Reed, Anderson, Evans, Angel Pagan, and this newly aquired cory sullivan and the possibilty of Rob Mackowiak now that we got him in the Minors
i dont know why the mets are not going after manny hes everything this team needs, hes a true winner and knows how to win he could possibly be a clubhouse cancer but that didnt stop the dodgers from making it to the playoffs, they are acting very cheap when they and we know they have the money, new ballpark why not open it with manny he will make you lots of money even before reaches the 1st plate appeanrance, its sad indeed.
Me as a Mets fan id love Manny…he would Beef our Offense up and i really think his personallity will help lightin the Club house…..Manny is Still one of the best hitters in the leauge and he would Protect our young guys in the order help them see more fastballs…Like Murphey or Evans…SO HELL YES SIGN HIM OMAR….LETS GO METS
all agreed but an option for 3 even though I do NOT want manny I am happy someone finally noticed A-rod for who he is A-Fraud
