Minnesota Twins outfielder Denard Span was at-bat against the Yankees Phil Hughes when he line a foul ball into the stands. As he looked into the stands, Span realized he had hit his own mother. He ran into the stands to be with her. He stayed there until paramedics arrived. The game was halted until she was able to get up. Span continued the at-bat and struck out on the next pitch. As a precaution she was taken to the hospital accompanied by her son.
