A video I put together to commemorate the Atlanta Thrashers team that will be leaving for Winnipeg. I will always support these players, even if I can’t bring myself to watch a Winnipeg game. *I do not claim to own any of these clips, pictures, or the music. All I did was put it together. The Dreger Report: TSN – Is this the week? Is this the week hockey fans in Winnipeg learn whether or not ‘Plan B’ goes down, in which the Atlanta Thrashers will in fact be sold to True North and moved into MTS Centre? At the moment, there’s no definitive answer to that question. We do know there’s been ongoing discussions between True North and ASG (Atlanta Spirit Group), but as of Sunday night sources refute the various Twitter claims that the two sides have an MOU (business lingo for Memorandum of Understanding) or agreed to a period of exclusivity to get a deal done. Both are possibilities, but neither have been agreed to at this point. The NHL remains an integral part of the process, but until Winnipeg and Atlanta reach an agreement for the sale and purchase of the Thrashers, there is no reason for the league to intervene other than to continue to do what it can to secure local ownership to keep the team in Atlanta. As was the case in the Coyotes saga, there doesn’t appear to be any timelines. But True North is eager to get a deal done as soon as possible, while Thrashers ownership, for the most part, is urgently trying to sell the team. Regardless – as painful as the wait was leading up to Glendale’s decision to pay to keep the Coyotes for another season – moving the Thrashers to Winnipeg is also going to take some time and quite possibly could drag through the remainder of the playoffs.
