Only eight Indians in a thousand own a car, but that’s set to change. The Indian Tata company is making a car that everyone can afford. Our Topic in Cooperation with Handelsblatt. Costing about 1700 euros, the Tata Nano has caused a sensation in the motoring world. And despite its low price, it has leading German technology. Important components like the diesel injection system, some of the electronics and the brakes come from German parts supplier Bosch. Bosch has dismantled complete production lines in Germany to rebuild in India. Claudia Laszczak accompanied an Indian engineer who has taken over a production line in Bosch’s Immenstadt works in southern Bavaria.

And now for some of my stupid fucking German friends !!!……The Nano is not meant to compete with small cars, heck, Tata already has a proper small car – INDICA. Indica competes with small cars from Suzuki, Hyundai, Skoda, Ford, Chevrolet etc etc etc. The Nano is meant to compete with Indian bikes/scooters, you idiots !! Cos many Indian middle class family of 3-4 adjust on two wheelers, the NANO is meant for them – NOT YOU.
Stop polluting Germany with your stupidity, migrate to US !!!
ya one sensor makes it german made car while the plant is in india??? we indians need to be as shame less as the whites.. i read in another video that Arnold Schwarzenegger worked out in britian for 2yrs so the british call him made in U.K!!! This is how they think, we should also learn to rub it in where it is needed.
@ccolimon The car was made by a private company, which already makes cars, not by the government….

@orangedac
Shut up, This facts belongs to the past.
Many people still has this stupid ideas about germans.
What a shame.
@NicoQQ89.
O enlightened one, how did you forget that the Merc is made at the TATA plant in Pune? Coz the Germans can’t make it??
Too much curry, huh?
FYI, mass transit in India (ignoring what & how it is PORTRAYED by the western media) is MUCH better than in the USA.
And you obviously do not know much about the TATA group, do you?
So, should India and Asia bear the cost of the extravagance of the US and Europe? Bet you have all the choices, don’t you?!
when i think of Germany… my mind automatically goes to those piles and piles of skeleton like bodies in the concentration camps.
just hearing a german accent makes me feel fear. i feel the person speaking to me must be evil (even though its probably not so).
maybe I am remembering something from a past life or I’ve been brainwashed watching too many World War II documentaries !
“has incredible fuel efficiency”
24kw and 5l per 100km this is a gas-guzzling car
and yes if you let build a product in an other coutry because the labor is cheap your america-ipod comparison works but in germany labor is expensive so there is just one reason why parts of the tata are made in germany you indians cannot do it
btw daimler owns 6,64 % of tata
If you are not a German STFU!!!
What have your country achieved? World domination? Mass extinction of Jews?
Anyways we don’t claim BMW to be Indian because they use parts manufactured by Bharat Forge. First make a car which costs $2000, then claim it your own. Until then, don’t worry, eat curry!
@marcit4marc ? The ’sauerkrauts’ have achieved a lot more than you ‘currys’. Expect the Nano to succeed better and develop a better image if German engineering is involved because regardless of what you think, any input by Germany is better than no input. I’d be a little less worried getting into a Nano knowing that there are German parts and I’m sure most would feel the same.
you’re right
India would be wiser to invest in mass transit rather than private automobiles.
hasta el keke….
@candeogauisus
It’s the other way round mate. India designed the car, and orders parts necessary for it’s specifications from Germany. Just like America designs the IPod and get it made in China.
BTW for all the haters out there this car has passed all the safety and emission and tests in Europe. despite this it has incredible fuel efficiency and a cheap price tag.
Bsides this car is built for Indian middle class and it provides for their needs with flying colors. I dare anyone to do better.
auf den kinderspielplatz damit!
i don’t wanna be seen in this whatever it is called …. sofort einstampfen ……. zu häßlich
Lol!!! Germans trying to steal credit on nano? Poor sauerkrauts….
@gpardhu
true, last time i a trailer brushed my skoda octavia @ 60Km/hr and i ended paying Rs175,000/-
Tata Nano costs just 100,000/- rupees,
but i doubt i’d be alive if i were driving Nano at that point
iphone is manufactured in Taiwan actually.
and iPhone too.
Indian car made in Germany like American iPod made in China
@Type59
It looks like 4door-Smart – but it’s NOT made in Germany – they just copied.
A german car would cost 5 times more.
I can’t wait to see one of these cars smashed like a sardine can in a trafic accident. A Smart car will even rip it in half..
