Back then there was no scholarship limit. So Bear Bryant would give scholarships to players, just so they wouldn’t go to Auburn. Wanna know why we won six? Alabama was on prohbation from 2000 to I believe 2003, and was limited on scholarships. So really, both streaks were kind of cheap.
