HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! I am in LOVE with the original and it was amazing to hear such a wonderful band cover it
omg Florcence and the Machine covering Beirut?!!!! I think I’ve died and gone to music heaven
That is why its a “cover song”….she sings it the way she feels it to be. I LOVE Beirut, and I highly enjoy different versions.
i love florence n she sings this song good but to me this is an untouchable song and no body will ever do it as well as beirut
put this down… fast!
I don’t mind her vocals at all, but there was no effort to put much of her own stamp on it other than with the singing.
Why would you do this to such a lovely Beirut song with all the amazing instruments in it.
Love Beirut, love florence. Wondrous.
feels weird having such an acute voice singing a Beirut song. Her voice is marvelous, but, in my opinion, it doesn’t go well with the song.
1:38 is incredible!
It does not flash me as the original, it has NO MAGIC
I’m all for covers, and she’s undoubtetly a good singer, but this just seems really unfitting.
@Fixdal never
this might be better than the original.
@catoushka The point of a COVER is not to make a new song (or to improve the old one) but just to incorporate a little of yourself into the original song. I love Beirut and Florence and the Machine
fuck me. this is so amazing.
shes brilliant!
@halep09 “The Machine” is a mate of hers called Sophia, also called “sadsack” which is what is tatooed on florences left forearm
She is so irritating, no effort here to make it her own it’s practically the same apart from her whining voice, leave it to Beirut
@ginastripes no need to use the f word, but you are surely right. She is amazing!
wailing. don’t enjoy it at all. it just doesn’t seem as heartfelt. nice idea, but i don’t like it.
don’t like this version of beiruts song :’(
@rareflorence Zach does the trumpet parts vocally sometimes. I don’t recall whether he does in the recording with the instruments drowning it out or not, but he definitely does it pretty much the same way.
cos cudownego!!!! wonderful!
@persiiv In interviews / reviews, ‘the machine’ refers to the rest of the band. Cool comparison though.
