Gene Chizik sits down with Jim Rome to discuss the BCS Championship game on ESPN. Coach Chizik has a lot of respect for the Oregon Duck offense and the speed of their offense and thinks that Auburn has a great gameplan to stop Oregon. He will not state how well Oregon would have done in the SEC, but states that Cam Newton is the best player he has ever had and one of the best players he has ever seen. Max Browne’s decision to attend USC, made last week, is sending a ripple effect throughout the recruiting landscape. The programs unable to land Browne, the number one quarterback in the class of 2013, must now shift their attention elsewhere – toward the other top passers still attainable. One of those quarterbacks is Cooper Bateman from right outside Salt Lake City, who becomes the focal point of recruiting for three of the cornerstone schools in the SEC: Florida, Alabama and Auburn. Then there’s JT Barrett, the country’s top dual-threat quarterback from the Lonestar State. Baylor wants to keep him in Texas, but because their offensive systems fit Barrett’s profile better, it’ll likely come down to Ohio State and Nebraska. The last quarterback on this list is Kevin Olsen from Wayne Hills, New Jersey, who was being pursued by Miami and Florida State early on, but a recent visit might determine where he ends up. Find out where Olsen is thinking of attending on this week’s episode of Battlegrounds.
