The death of Ron Santo has saddened everyone in Cub’s nation. The legendary third baseman died today of bladder cancer. He battled juvenile diabetes his entire life. He is known by this generation as the color analyst for Cub games on WGN Radio. They call it the Pat and Ron Show where he is teamed up with Pat Hughes. Ron is beloved by Cub fans and respected by baseball fans everywhere. It is a sad day that, “This Old Cub,” has been taken from us. Ron santo deserves to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame. His numbers are good enough and his story is even better. t’s too bad Ron won’t be around to see his enshrinement nor to see his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs, win the World Series.
A little something to remember the legendary baseball player and announcer Ron Santo by. No copyright infringement intended. I own neither the photo nor the audio, the latter of which belongs to Tribune, Co. and/or the Chicago Cubs. Audio taken from “The Pat & Ron Show Highlight Reel” on The Nick Digilio Show on WGN Radio. (Special thanks to producer extraordinaire Andy “The Count” Hermann.) Hear The Nick Digilio Show Fridays 10pm-2am, and Saturdays 6-10pm on WGN Radio 720.
